‘The girls will deliver,’ say Edwin Allen
ON Thursday, February 26, telecommunication sponsor of the GraceKennedy/ISSA Boys’ & Girls’ Championships 2015, LIME journeyed to the farming community of Frankfield as part of the LIME Journey to Champs school tour to reward defending Girls’ Champs Edwin Allen High School, with a cheque of $100,000. This reward will go directly towards the preparation of the upcoming meet at the end of the month.
According to Kim Lee, head of channel marketing, sponsorship and promotions at LIME, sports development is a very important aspect to the telecoms provider, as it teaches dedication, team work and focus.
“We want to support the school in doing so; we hope that this donation will assist in many ways as it can, as we continue to lend a helping hand while expanding our customer base,” said Lee.
As part of the engagement with Edwin Allen High School, the telecoms sponsor also hosted a Pre-Champs pep rally which had the largest turnout of pupils since the LIME Journey to Champs series for 2015 began.
The student body was all revved up for what they believe will be another glorious victory for blue and white Clarendonians. LIME gave away many delightful treats and goodie bags in the heat of the moment. Associated sponsor, Huawei, also gave away LIME phones to lucky students who participated in the various fun challenges and activities hosted by the LIME team. Music, entertainment, dancing and laughter was definitely the order of the day.
The principal, vice-principals, teachers and coaches too are also optimistic about the outcome of the March 2015 Champs and expect great things from the girls’ track team.
“We are confident; we have the team to produce the expected result. The girls are trained and ready to defend their championship,” said Everton Walters, principal of Edwin Allen High School.
Walters further added that Edwin Allen High have a training staff second to none, which is committed to the success of the girls, and as such the girls will deliver.
The Edwin Allen High School girls’ track team has already shown their dominance having won the recently held Central Championships, beating their rivals by a large margin.
