U-17 Reggae Boyz inch closer to play-offs with 5-1 defeat of T&T
SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras — Jamaica Under-17 Reggae Boyz defeated fierce rivals Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) 5-1 in their Group A encounter at the Estadio Francisco Morazan IN Honduras a short while ago, and moved a step closer to World Cup play-off berth.
Jamaica with their second win in four games, moved to seven points, the same as Honduras who were scheduled to play the United States of America (USA), who are on nine points, later.
Guatemala on three points are in action against a Cuban team on two points.
Substitute Tajea Brown, who came on in the 67th minute, grabbed a brace in the 80th and 85th minutes. Peter Lee Vassell had given Jamaica a 39th-minute lead before Noah Powder pulled T&T level with a beautiful free kick in the 42nd minute. However, Nathaniel Adamolekun restored Jamaica’s advantage in the 45th minute, lobbying the advancing goalkeeper Levi Hernandez. Another substitute Donovan Dawkins got on the scoresheet in the 90th minute.
If the Guatemala/Cuba game is drawn and the USA defeat Honduras later tonight, Jamaica will be through to the play-offs.
