On top of the seeming failures in her constituency, Lisa Hanna’s failure in the Ministry of Youth and Culture is disappointing because I thought that she would bring more to the table from a policy perspective.

Over the years, in my mind, Hanna has been eloquent, but she has not been able to translate that eloquence into something bigger; into something that the country can appreciate.

Frankly speaking, she has failed the youth of this country. She has not been able to create the atmosphere in Jamaica that will deter certain acts against our youth. The campaign to be the youth’s keeper has reached the common man and, therefore, no one feels empowered to do anything for the youth of this country. In my view, people have dropped their collective responsibility to protect the youth because they do not see leadership in Hanna.

No one can take her seriously. Recall once upon a time, Andrew Holness was that man the mothers and fathers looked to because, at that time, he represented what they wanted their children to grow up and be like. Sadly, Hanna has not found that status. The prime minster, if she means Jamaica any good, should remove Hanna from the youth ministry and maybe place her in entertainment, where she would probably enjoy it more and find a more meaningful way to contribute to the development of Jamaica.
