IT could not have been a more appropriate venue: the Drivers Rallysport Club (DRC) celebrated its various series champions last Saturday afternoon on the idyllic riverside location that is Bybrook, Bog Walk, a venue ingrained in Jamaican motorsports history.

“We wanted to do something different and we think it turned out better than a lot of people expected,” Conrad Burns, DRC president, told Auto.

Although rain threatened, it never came, but left just a cool breeze as several of Jamaica’s finest drivers and special guests were treated first to cocktails and then their awards.

Leading the rallysport standings was Maurice Whittingham, taking home three major titles, AutoDex Champion, the Rallysprint Championship, and the overall Rallysport driver’s championship. Whittingham continued to rack up the accolades on his return to the sport as RallySprint two-wheel drive class Champion and the AutoDex rear-wheel drive limited-slip differential class Champion.

Kyle Gregg won the Stages Rally Driver’s Championship with rival Joel Jackson’s co-driver Dmitri Dawkins clinching the Stages Rally Co-Driver’s Championship.
