Land Settlement stay perfect in Manchester Div One
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Land Settlement clipped Technical Strikers 1-0 to solidify their lead in Zone One, following the latest set of games in the Jamalco/Manchester FA Division One competition.
Jermaine Johnson netted the winner on eight minutes to hand Settlement their third victory in as many matches.
They are now up to nine points, five clear of nearest rivals Plowden FC and Star Zone Academy, who played out a 3-3 draw in their fixture at Cross Keys.
Keron Hewitt (23rd), Mario Kennedy (73rd) and Kevin Riley (75th) were the goalscorers for Star Zone, while Hugh Bennett (26th), Kemar Griffiths (55th) and Rohan Lindsay (88th) earned the point for Plowden.
Old England continue to lead the way in Zone Two, with an identical record to Land Settlement: nine points, three wins, six goals for and one against.
Second and third place are occupied by 360° Academy and Mandeville United, respectively. Both sides have four points from three games, with 360° ahead courtesy of a superior goal average.
Meanwhile, in Major League action, Mile Gully clipped Downs 1-0, thanks to a last-gasp winner from Ashani Lawrence, to stave-off relegation.
The former Premier League side finished the campaign with 16 points, five clear of Zone Two rivals Kendal, who were demoted following a 14-1 mauling by Ricam Academy – for whom Maxwell Robinson netted a seven-timer.
