THE top two-year-olds of last year, Alacrann and Come Dance With Me, are slated to make their seasonal bows on Saturday as their trainer Anthony Nunes steps up preparations for the 1000 and 2000 Guineas Classic races.

“Alacrann will run in the six-furlong Overnight Allowance event while the filly Come Dance With Me will be part of the field in a six and-a-half Restricted States event,” Nunes confirmed for the Complete Racing Guide.

Alacrann, who was voted as the top two-year-old of 2014, last raced on Boxing Day (2014) when he won the one-mile Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes sponsored by Supreme Ventures. Come Dance With Me who finished third in that race was the top two-year-old filly. Nunes got to train Come Dance With Me after one of his owners bought the filly who was then trained by Dwight Chen.

Nunes says both of his horses are progressing well for their Classic dates come early April.

“Both Alacrann and Come Dance With Me are going fairly well on the exercise track. I will be able to get a better picture of their readiness for the 1000 and 2000 Guineas after they race on Saturday. After seeing their performances on Saturday, the necessary changes, if necessary, will be made,” Nunes informed.

Nunes now holds a strong hand in both the 1000 and 2000 Guineas following the victories on Saturday last by Berranca in the Thornbird Stakes and Siempre Bueno in the Prince Consort Stakes.
