It’s never a case of ordinary with Theresa Roberts. The art enthusiast — back home for a winter vacation from London’s cold temps — has a calculated vision for celebrating the arts, whether it’s the work of Jamaican artists that line the walls of her and private equity lawyer Andrew Roberts’ Hanover Grange mansion at Tryall Club; or acting as a facilitator to host art gallery showings across the Pond for The Rock’s next generation of visual artists.

Then there was her hosting Danish couture designer Isabell Kristensen at Hanover Grange, in November 2013, to debut a Jamaican-inspired collection to rave reviews.

The latest endeavour at her enviably luxe Hanover abode last Tuesday evening celebrated art once more — this time, the classic sounds of opera with a recital featuring veteran West End performer, soprano Christina Collier, and Gilles San Juan, a tenor who regularly performs with The Nice Opera in France.

With dispatched invitations that dubbed the evening as ‘Opera Opulence’, the lady of the manor, haute in a violet Roberto Cavalli floor-grazing design, graciously welcomed her inner sanctum — homeowner friends from Tryall, as well as friends and business associates from the Second City and Kingston — to indulge in the evening’s aural operatic wonder while enjoying sips from the Diageo-sponsored bar.

Collier and San Juan kept the intimate gathering riveted with a two-part performance that included selections from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La donna è mobile, the theme song from the classic Francis Ford Coppola film The Godfather, Maria from West Side Story, and George Gershwin’s Summertime; culminating in lusty applause, and calls for an encore.
