Calabar High will be aiming for a ‘Champs’ four-peat when the competition kicks off tomorrow. Few will doubt their chances. After trailing for much of the event last year, they ended up winning by 96.5 points. They then declared that the Mortimer Geddes Trophy lived at 61 Red Hills Road.

The Lions remain strong in Class One and Two, led by team captain Michael O’Hara.

O’Hara, in his less preferred of the two sprints, ran 10.23 at the Digicel Grand Prix as he continues to aims to regain his 2013 overall champion boy title.

Their Class Two, most excitingly including the likes of Christopher Taylor, Tyreke Wilson and Anthony Carpenter who will be hoping to give C’Bar important points amid tough competition for Kingston College.

In the Class One event, the duo of Aykeme Francis and Renardo Wilson will be fighting an uphill battle against their main rivals Kingston College (KC).

The green-and-black men have admitted their dearth in Class Three after the graduation of their top men.

KC generally does well in Class Three, and so one would feel that Calabar needs to do very well in the field, in order to make it four titles on the trot.

With 18.43 man Warren Barrett in the Class One shot put, Calabar continues their strength in that event, along with his support Caesar Kemp and Eric Campbell. The points aren’t as secure in Class Two or Three, but Andre Chin and Savian Burke should be in the mix.

The RABALAC warriors have a history of depth and dominance in the field, however. Any team hoping to dethrone the natural favourites will have to at least challenge them here.

However, Michael Clarke and his men will be going all out to try and keep their promise of making the Mortimer Geddes Trophy live at 61 Red Hills Road.
