FEDERAL United and Dunbeholden will put their unbeaten records on the line as the St Catherine FA Division One semi-finals begin this evening with first-leg action at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.

Federal will play Windsor Lion in the first semi-final at 5:00 pm, while Dunbeholden are set to meet Watson Grove in the second tie at 7:00.

Both sides finished the preliminary round scheduled as the only unbeaten teams in the competition, on 30 points each, with Federal clinching top spot on goal difference.

Theoretically, Dunbeholden are now faced with the tougher opponents in Watson Grove, who placed third 26 points. And to make things more edgy for the mid-season champions, Watson Grove were one of three teams they failed to beat in the prelims, ending 1-1 in their only other meeting this season.

But a healthy goal difference of 27, bettered only by Federal’s 28, should provide them with a psychological boost, especially since Watson Grove’s record (six) is at least three times worse.

Federal will exude more confidence going up against Windsor Lion in the other game, having thrashed them 6-1 in the prelims.

They will also take solace from the fact that their opponents are the only team in the top six with a negative goal difference, after they conceded three more goals (18) than they managed to score (15) in 12 regular season games.
