Samuda heads G2K
MATTHEW Samuda became the new president for Generation 2000 (G2K), the group of young professionals attached to the Jamaica Labour Party earlier this month.
Samuda, the son of local attorney Milton Samuda, entered G2K in 2011, and was previously one of four vicepresidents. He replaces attorney-at-law Floyd Green, who was returned unopposed as president in November 2014, but stepped down three months later to develop his political career.
Outside of business, Samuda is also the JLP caretaker for the Mona Division in St Andrew and is expected to contest that division for the party in the next local government election Samuda is said by the party to be a “well-known business executive” and is vice-president of the JLP youth affiliate Generation 2000 (G2K).
Samuda is deputy general manager of marketing for Facey Commodity, a position he has held since May 2014, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He was promoted to that post after eight months as a marketing manager for the Seprod portfolio, having originally started at Facey as a brand manager for Serge Island.
Prior to Facey, Samuda worked at J Wray and Nephew as brand manager for its ready-to-drink portfolio of products, from June 2011 to February 2013, having started his career in advertising. Samuda studied marketing at the University College of the Caribbean in Kingston.
