QUARTER-FINAL places will be up for grabs as four key matches take place in the final preliminary round of the St Mary Cricket Association Maurice/Clarke T20 Big Bash today.

At Boscobel Oval, defending champions Boscobel will be up against a dangerous Three Hills team fighting for a quarter-final berth in the featured match at 1:30 pm. Boscobel will be expecting in-form batsman and the competition’s leading run-getter Alwain Williams and his opening partner Domain Wilson, Herman Henry, Randaine Bennett and Robert Ware to lead them to the winners’ circle against the Three Hills aggregation led by hard-hitting batsmen Eugene Hudson, Sanjay Hudson, Johnyine Stanford, Andre Clarke and Jesse Staple.

In the opening match at 9:30 am at Boscobel Oval, favourites Port Maria, paced by national wicketkeeper/batsman Aldane ‘Zoom’ Thomas and Richard Creary, will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run against a strong Jack’s River team, led by Orane Farr, Darian Walker, Sashane Anderson and Richardo Thompson.

At Day’s Mountain Oval, in the opening match, in-form Sandals/Beaches Ocho Rios will battle-bottom-of-the-table Oxford. The Hotel men will be banking on Delroy Patterson, Jesse Alexander, Michael Downer, Kagil Earle, Raheem McKenzie, Amhal Reid and Samuel McKenzie to maintain their winning streak. Oxford will be looking to top batsman Kamone Haye to play a big inning, with assistance from Fitzroy Howell, Emile Thomas and Everton Byfield.

In the featured match at Day’s Mountain, the home team and Top End will try to emerge victorious. Top End’s main players are Anthony Walters, Nicoy Simms and Jermaine Chisholm. Day’s Mountain, however, have a quality line-up possessing the likes of Damion Brown, Romeo McDonald and Odaine Hinds.

All the quarter finals placings are expected to be known at the end of the day’s play.
