REGGAE-DUB group The No-Maddz have come out against the rise in sexual attacks against young girls in Jamaica through their Nuh Guh Deh campaign.

The musicians partnered with Eve For Life, a non-governmental organisation, which supports women livingwith, or affected, by HIV/AIDS.

Eve For Life also counsels sexually abused children.We really want our children to have a smooth future so we want the

older men to leave the young girls alone.  Even if a girl is forcing;herself on you, you should know in yourself ‘Nuh Go Deh,” said Sheldon Shepherd, a member of The No-Maddz.

The song — inspired by a poem written by Eve For Life director Joy Crawford — and video for the campaign are expected to be released in April.

The No-Maddz and Eve For Life have worked together since the latter’s launch in 2008. Eve For Life’s website (www.eveforlife.org) contains a video with graphic recollections of rape victims.

This year has seen a spike in sexual and other violent attacks against young women which has sparked outcry in civil society.

Last week in parliament, prime minister Portia Simpson Miller vowed to push legislation that will punish persons who commit such crimes.

She said men who attack, or kill, pregnant women will face harshest prosecution.
