Cop kill rogue cop in failed robbery attempt
HANOVER, Jamaica — A policeman was shot dead by another police when he and an accomplice allegedly attempted to rob a bar in Hopwell, Hanover early this morning.
The identity of the dead police has not yet been released.
Preliminary reports are that about 12:30 am two men entered the bar and attempted to rob the patrons there. It is said that during the attempted robbery an inspector of police challenged the men, resulting in a shootout.
OBSERVER ONLINE understands that after the shooting subsided it was discovered that one of the alleged robbers, the police, was shot dead.
The inspector and a female patron were also shot and injured and were taken to hospital where they were reportedly admitted.
The whereabouts of the accomplice is unknown at this time.
It is believed that an illegal gun was seized by the police.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is believed to be investigating the incident.
