Benjy Myaz gives outstanding set
IT was an evening of reggae, jazz and blues at Blue Essence Lounge in King’s Plaza last Friday — the perfect setting for musician/singer Benjy Myaz.
Myaz delivered an outstanding 90-minute set, captivating the modest gathering at the Constant Spring Road venue.
The veteran bassist did instrumental takes on What’s Going On, Never Let Me Go and Three Times a Lady. He paused periodically to allow his harmoniser, Cadia, a chance to shine. This she did when singing Bill Withers’ Ain’t no Sunshine.
After another round of instrumentals that rendered The Stylistics’ People Make the World go Round and Withers’ Lovely Day, he sang his hits, Do For Love and Love You Higher as well as Marley’s Turn Your Lights Down Low, capping an entertaining evening.
