Levi Roots for Sandals Ochi
BRITISH-JAMAICAN reggae musician and entrepreneur Levi Roots will be staging a Discover Jamaican Cuisine press trip dubbed Rum, Rhythm & Roots at the newly re-launched Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in St Ann, April 17-21.
The trip will feature a number of leading culinary journalists from the top United Kingdom newspapers including The Daily Mirror and Evening Standard.
In addition to showcasing the new culinary offerings at Sandals Ochi, journalists will be exposed to other attractions and entities, including visits to local food markets.
Levi Roots, whose real name is Keith Valentine Graham Bilal Musa, was born in Clarendon.
He shot to prominence after appearing on UK television programme Dragon’s Den where he secured £50,000 funding for his Reggae Reggae jerk barbeque sauce, in return for a 20 per cent equity stake in the product.
In 2008, he published the Reggae Reggae Cookbook and has appeared on American TV reality series, Big Brother, where he cooked a Caribbean BBQ for the housemates.
As an artiste, he has several tracks to his credit, including So Out of My Mind, Cool Me Off, Free Your Mind and Just Another Day.
He was nominated for a MOBO Award, Britain’s equivalent to the Grammy, in 1998.
