AMCHAM president honoured for contribution to Penn Relays
KINGSTON, Jamaica — American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Jamaica, President and AD-S Global CEO Ron McKay was recently honoured with this year’s International Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Young Professional Caribbean Network (YPCN) in Pennsylvania, USA.
The awards dinner, the premier event on YPCN-produced annual Caribbean Cuisine Week programme, helped to raise funds to assist some 700 high school athletes from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Bahamas, St Vincent, and Grenada attending the annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
McKay was commended for his “strong business savvy, big heart for Jamaica and strong sense of corporate social responsibility, born out through his support of philanthropic efforts”.
This includes his assistance in ensuring that young Caribbean athletes are able to participate in the annual Penn Relays.
The Penn Relays, which is set for April 23-25 this year, is the largest track and field meet in the United States and has been held annually for 121 years.
McKay is the newly elected president of AMCHAM and head of ADS Global, the Montego Bay-based firm which has been developing a variety of call centre management solutions and consulting services since 1986.
YPCN was founded in Philadelphia by young businessman Blane Stoddart and receives strong support from the Philadelphia business and philanthropic community, Caribbean students in the region and individuals like McKay from as far as South Africa.
