Mexico help for Riverton access road
MINISTER of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator AJ Nicholson, greets Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Mexico, Maria Alcaraz, during a courtesy call Wednesday at the ministry’s offices in New Kingston.
During the visit, Alcaraz advised the minister that Mexico, through the Infrastructure Fund for Mesoamerican and Caribbean Countries and Mexico’s Exim Bank (BANCOMEXT), had approved a US$1.8-million donation to assist in the rehabilitation of the access road to the Riverton City Dump in Kingston.
According to Alcaraz, the road rehabilitation — which is expected to start later this year — should be completed within 12 months.
Minister Nicholson welcomed the decision of the Government of Mexico, which he affirmed was another sign of the close ties of friendship and co-operation that the two countries have shared for many years.
