Humble Lion tackle Treadlight in KO semi-final
MAY PEN, Clarendon — The first finalist in the Noel Arscott/Clarendon FA Knockout football competition will be decided this evening at the Effortville Community Centre when Humble Lion FC host Treadlight FC in semi-final action.
Kick-off is set for five o’clock.
The other semi-final, between Sporting Central Academy and Jamalco, will be played on Wednesday at a venue to be decided.
Humble Lion, currently fourth in the nation’s top flight, are favoured to claim their fifth successive hold on the trophy, but coach Donovan Duckie will require an improved performance from his team to inspire confidence in their supporters.
They were underwhelming in their quarter-final against Woodhall and needed a second-half strike from Omando McLeod, plus an own goal, to see off their Major League opponents 2-1.
Treadlight stopped York Town 3-1 in their quarter-final, but should find life harder against their central Clarendon neighbours.
The outgoing Major League champions have lost a number of key players since their breakthrough last season, which has resulted in their demotion to next term’s Division One competition.
