Pastor on child porn charges

BELMOPAN, Belize (CMC) — Police have charged a Honduran-born pastor with multiple counts of child pornography.

Police said that Gerardo Lopez of the Evangelical Church had been questioned in connection with a number of photos of children, ages two and 10 years old. Lopez’s cellular phone is also alleged to contain photos of the minors.

He has been slapped with four counts of producing child pornography.

Media reports here said that the information regarding the photos came to light after an unidentified woman handed over documents to an officer with Community Policing in Orange Walk.

The documents contained nude pictures of two children.

Police said they were continuing investigations into the matter.
