CHRISTOPHER Brown, chairman of horse racing’s promoting company Caymanas Track Limited (CTL), says the company is in the process of launching a cable channel which will have live racing daily so as to generate greater sales and profits.

“We have instituted telephone betting which is growing at an exponential rate and soon we will announce the commissioning of a racing cable channel that will now go a far way in enhancing the further growth of the telephone betting platform and sales of CTL. Then from Sunday to Sunday…morning, noon, or night…Jamaicans will have live racing on a daily basis in their homes, and when they are ready to bet they can either move to their smartphones or call 978-2BET,” the CTL Chairman told the Complete Racing Guide.

While stating that he could not give out the finer details of the intended racing channel, Brown said: “This racing cable channel when up and running will provide greater possibilities for the CTL. We at CTL see this initiative as a bold step on the development not only of the company but for racing as well.”

Brown also informed that since the introduction of telephone betting in November of last year it has been paving the way for the financial growth of the promoting company for local horseracing.

“I am pleased to announce that starting in November 2014, sales from telephone betting have moved from $300,000 to over $30m. That means over $30m has gone through our new betting platform…and we are growing exponentially very month as we are now moving into another phase of our marketing drive,” Brown said.

“The important thing to note about this betting platform is that it has little or no overheads to CTL. This is the way to go if we are to claw our way to growth as a company,” he added.

“We have also signed a far-reaching agreement with the bookmaking entity Post to Post, which over time will see their bookmaking outlets operating as full OTBs, selling our bets and no longer in competition as we expect greater sales and greater profit with this major development,” he explained.

Brown said while they have tightened their financial and cost controls across the company, he would like to thank his staff for their hard work and dedication to the improvement of CTL.
