No bail for Carmax exec
RAYMOND Clough, attorney-at-law representing incarcerated director of Carmax Darren Blake, advised the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday that Carmax’s principal, Ian Lyn, is currently off the island.
Clough’s explanation came after Resident Magistrate Maxine Ellis denied his client bail citing “it is likely he will interfere with the investigation.”
Blake, who was arrested on March 13, is scheduled to appear in court on May 1. He is charged with fradulent conversion, by not turning over monies from the sale of motor vehicles by his company.
So far, 88 person have filed complaints totalling $161.90 million.
Lyn, who remains on the run, is also being sought for questioning.
Meanwhile, the police are appealing to members of the public who have been defrauded by Hope Road-based Carmax to report the matter to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) or call 967-1389.
