Sizzla celebrates ‘Earthstrong’
IT was a full house for Sizzla Kalonji’s ‘Earthstrong’ on April 18 at the old Skateland complex, Windward Road, east Kingston.
The location, which houses the Caveman studio where Sizzla frequents, was transformed into a dancehall celebration with veteran and upcoming artistes turning out to celebrate the fiery artiste’s 39th birthday.
Sizzla did not disappoint the hardcore throng, performing a number of his standards, including Holding Firm and Thank you Mama.
Capleton, Half Pint, Teflon, Iba Mahr, Junie Platinum and Kabaka Pyramid were among the performers on an event that rocked until 5:00 am Sunday.
Sizzla, whose birth name is Miguel Collins, emerged during the 1990s as a protegé of music producer Phillip ‘Fattis’ Burrell. His considerable catalogue of hit songs include the anthems Black Woman and Child, Praise Ye Jah and Just One of Those Days.
