Faulkland FC take massive 6-0 lead in first-leg final
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Faulkland FC have all but won their first championship after taking a 6-0 lead over Mountain Villa after the first leg of their St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Division One final at Jarrett Park on Friday.
Odean Snow scored a hat-trick and national Under-17 player Peter-Lee Vassell scored twice after coming off the bench as Faulkland FC dominated the game from the start and Mountain Villa will have a mountain to climb in the return-leg set for the same venue on Friday.
Meanwhile, in the first leg of the Sandals/ATL Senior League, Melbourne FC and Reggae Youths played out an exciting 0-0 draw and will have all to play for come Friday for a place in the Western Confederation Super League next season.
In Friday’s return-leg each team will have to find replacements for a top player as Melbourne’s Kamal Smith and Reggae Youths’ Oshane Russell were both sent off in the first half for fighting.
There were a lot of goals to cheer in the first game, however, as Faukland FC who were beaten in the Division Two final last year, ensure there would be no slip-up this time.
Snow scored two quick goals to send them up 2-0 in the 12th minute, while Jason Malcolm made it 3-0 in the 39th minute. Snow then completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute.
Vassell, who came on in the 51st minute, then made it 4-0 in the 61st minute and went on to score another in 78th minute to make it 6-0.
