Portland hosts Sundance return
WRIGHT Image Entertainment’s Gregory Wright was more than happy with the reintroduction of the Sundance party series, at Trident Beach in Port Antonio, Portland, last Sunday.
“Our last staging was in 2010, but I’m amazed at the positive response to its return,” Wright told the Jamaica Observer.
This was the series’ fourth staging.
Wright said the five-year break was influenced by the state of the emergency that was declared in May 23, 2010, due to the West Kingston unrest. He said he had a party scheduled for Irie Beach in St Ann, which was cancelled.
Wright felt this, however, was the perfect time to bring this style of event back.
“Sundance is about partying under the sun on a Sunday out of town,” he said.
He went on to further describe Sundance as exclusive, intimate, and premium.
With the beach venue packed, patrons danced up a ‘tidal wave’ to the wide mix of music provided by Selector Shane, alongside DJ Donny from sound system Coppershot.
“We are still working on bringing back the Sundance brand, so we might have another this year, or just attempt to make it an annual event,” Wright added.
