Bolt confident he’ll be back in top form by World Championships
Double world record holder Usain Bolt shares a joke with former American sprinter Steve Williams at Thursday's press conference for today's adidas Grand Prix at the Grand Hyatt in New York. Williams, who was the first man to run a sub 20-second 200m in Jamaica when he ran 19.9 seconds in 1975, equalled the men's world record for the 100m and 200m with hand-timed runs of 9.9 seconds and 19.8 seconds respectively. He was also a member of a team that set a world record in the 4x100 m relay.
(Photos: Paul Reid)
Bolt confident he’ll be back in top form by World Championships

NEW YORK (AP) — Usain Bolt is confident he’ll be back in peak form once the world championships arrive in August.

The six-time Olympic gold medallist was slowed by injuries last year, and his times have been unremarkable so far in 2015. But he’s always been able to reclaim his dominance in time for the biggest meets and expects that to happen again this summer.

Bolt said Friday that “everything is coming together” in his training.

He is back at the place where he first proved he would be a transcendent athlete. In May 2008, he set his first world record in the 100 meters on Randall’s Island, east of Upper Manhattan.

He returns there Saturday, running the 200 this time at the Adidas Grand Prix. Bolt hopes to break 20 seconds, a modest goal for someone whose world record is 19.19.
