Bringing in the fleet
FOUNDED in December 2014, Auto Solutions hopes to establish itself as the go-to company in the highly competitive and burgeoning fleet management business, according business development manager Gregory Everett.
“Many organisations are recognising the role of the fleet or transport management as an essential component to their overall logistics and supply-chain management process,” Everett told Auto.
Auto Solutions’s data indicates 50 per cent of Jamaica’s vehicles are company owned.
According to Everett, given the current tight economic times, the benefits of using Auto Solutions’s expertise could result in huge cost savings. The company provides a host of fleet management services ranging from simple vehicle acquisition, to maintenance and repairs, to higher-level functions like tracking and diagnostics.
“Where we believe we have the edge is in customer service and technology. We have dedicated our first year of operation developing the business infrastructure to provide the service and competency level necessary to be viable in this market,” Everett explained.
On the technology front, Auto Solutions has created multiple pricing strategies around their own systems that offers cost savings over others currently in the market.
“While we do offer GPS (global positioning system) tracking, our base system does without it and yet is able to provide more applicable data for efficient fleet management,” he said.
The Auto Solutions systems plug directly into a vehicle’s on-board computer going beyond the location data of a traditional GPS-based system. From the vehicle’s computer clients can track fuel use, monitor vehicle health and driver behaviour.
“The real advantage is that there are no cellular costs. Our solution employs a local wireless system for data management, which eliminates the need for cellular subscriptions. Once the system is installed, the customers never pay another penny for wireless connectivity.”
Customers then have the ability to access this information via a web dashboard at their leisure. Of course, Auto Solutions retains a traditional physical operational facility at 16 Osbourne Road in Kingston that can store and maintain vehicles on safe and secure premises.
