Moving farewell for trainer Errol Subratie
Family and friends turned out in their numbers to pay their last respects to Errol Roy Subratie at a Service of Thanksgiving held at the chapel, Dovecot Memorial Park, St John’s Road, St Catherine, on Monday. Subratie, who died on June 25, was buried at Dovecot.
In delivering the eulogy, Subratie’s daughter, Deborah described her father as a loving person.
“My dad was a complex man; easily misunderstood but at the core of he was a very sweet and caring person. He loved life, he lived life and he was just what life is all about,” Deborah Subratie said.
She further said: “My dad was a jovial person; he shared jokes with everybody. He made everyone around him happy, he gave to the needy, and he helped children to go to school. He is just a wonderful person.”
Trainer Dalton Sirjue in his tribute told the congregation that Subratie’s death has left the racing industry in mourning.
“Errol Subratie started his career in the racing industry in the mid-1970s and has saddled over 70 winners and he has done so much for racing during his time. He will surely be missed by all,” he said.
