REGGAE SUMFEST: Kabaka Pyramid keeps reggae fire burning
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Kabaka Pyramid kept the reggae fire burning with a well received set at Reggae Sumfest presently under way here at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre.
The Rastafarian singer who took the stage after Jesse Royal, another member of the faith who blazed a scorching trail, wasted no time in getting down to business with ‘Never going be a Slave’, ‘No Capitalist’,’ Real Warrior’, ‘Real Phenomenon’, ‘Well Done’ among others.
The roots-rock reggae ambassador who represented the genre admirably, interacted with the patrons who he consistently requested to repeat, “Accurate” as well as used them as his back-up singers at some point, asking them to sing along.
Meanwhile, his lyrics did not only comprise the hard-hitting social commentary, but he also serenaded “the empresses” with ‘I’ll be Waiting for You’.
During his performance, he pleaded with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) to “promote Rasta”
