Ras Emmanuel yearns for home
JUST ahead of Jamaica’s Emancipation and Independence, New Jersey-based deejay Ras Emmanuel has released a patriotic single called Love Mi Island Jamaica.
The catchy anthem is on the Central Village Voice Records label, and produced by Nasir Gowdie and recorded at Imark Music Studios in Maplewood, New Jersey.
“This new single is about the burning desire that Jamaicans overseas have to go back home, especially around this time of the year,” said Ras Emmanuel.
“And although the song was created with the holiday celebrations in mind, it is really appropriate for any time of the year,” he added.
The rhythm for Love Mi Island Jamaica is just as infectious as the lyrics, and the song celebrates many of the attractive features about the island — the weather, the best coffee, delicious foods like roast yam, fry fish, ackee and salt fish. It also boasts attractions like Dunn’s River Falls and makes mention of Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man.
Ras Emmanuel’s new single is from his forthcoming album Racism, a 12-song set featuring reggae singer Luciano, which is scheduled for release later this year.
