Normalcy returned to Glen Vincent Health Centre following fire
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Normalcy has been returned to the Glen Vincent Health Centre in Kingston following a fire at the facility yesterday which caused the health centre to close prematurely.
Dr Andrei Cooke, SERHA Board Chairman said the fire damaged a section of the facility which houses the dermatology services as well as office and storage spaces.
“The Glen Vincent Health Centre is currently operational. We took the decision to open the health centre this morning after a preliminary assessment by the engineers indicated that the main building, where majority of the health services are offered, was not affected by the fire,” Dr Cooke explained.
He said “A comprehensive assessment will be done to determine the extent of the damage.”
In addition, Dr Cooke said the management of the Kingston and St Andrew Health Services, which oversees the Glen Vincent Health Centre, will be meeting this afternoon to discuss the possible relocation of the dermatology services, which has been suspended as a result of the fire.
