Basic school brilliance
The intelligence of some early childhood students was put on display when the Optimist Club of Mammee Bay held its annual Basic Schools Challenge Quiz at St Ann’s Bay Baptist Church Hall recently.
The participating schools were Brighter Beginners Basic, Cee Tee Basic and Steer Town Basic. Brighter Beginners emerged the winners for a second year to retained the trophy, while Cee Tee Basic was awarded second place.
President of the Optimist Club of Mammee Bay Barbara Watson encouraged parents to set good examples for their children to emulate as she addressed the award ceremony for the competition.
Meanwhile, Optimist Sharon Dacosta from Chalky Hill Primary was honoured for dedicated service to the Junior Optimist Club at the school over the years. Also, Shawn Rose and Donna Brown were inducted as members of the club by Lieutenant Governor Eunice Blake-Brown and President Barbara Watson at the function.
