GG sends condolences to family, colleagues of CBA president
GOVERNOR General Sir Patrick Allen yesterday expressed condolence to the loved ones and colleague of Cornwall Bar Association (CBA) President George Thomas, who was killed last week Thursday in a car crash in St James.
“He was an outstanding attorney and he was recognised by the Government of Jamaica for his significant contribution to the development of the legal profession,” Sir Patrick said during a ceremony at King’s House yesterday.
“I’d like to encourage the CBA and the fraternity to continue to remain as strident as he was in his search for justice for all,” he added.
The 68-year-old Thomas was pronounced dead at hospital following the afternoon crash at the traffic lights at the Providence Heights/ Whitehouse intersection.
His son Maurice, who was driving his Mercedes Benz, and the three occupants of the Nissan Tiida involved in the crash were hospitalised.
Thomas, close to five years ago, received the nation’s sixth highest honour — the Order of Distinction (OD) — for outstanding service to the legal profession and the community at large.
