Superluminal stays as St Leger winner
The Jamaica Racing Commission, on August 26, concluded an appeal by owner Derrick Smith against the decision of the Stewards to not disqualify Superluminal winner of the 10th race on the July 4.
At the hearing which began on the July 20, the appellant submitted that the stewards wrongly decided not to disqualify Superluminal for causing interference and intimidation to the horse Seeking My Dream inside the final furlong of the race.
The Commission, after viewing the patrol film of the race, hearing sworn evidence from Jockey Omar Walker rider of horse Seeking My Dream and submissions from the chairman of the stewards’ panel on the day, Haldene Johansen, and Douglas Thompson representing Smith, ruled that the appeal be dismissed and the decision of the stewards be upheld.
