RASTAFARIAN reggae artiste Teflon returned to the island on Wednesday from a two-week gig in Europe. The gig was a part of a promotional tour for his upcoming album called Young King.

His European visit saw him making stops in Hamburg, Berlin and Portugal.

“This was just the first leg of the promotion. We saw the need to promote it before the album release to the European market. We will return to Europe in November after the release to continue the promotion,” he said.

Young King is slated to be released the ending of September and will be distributed by Tuff Gong Records. It will feature production works from the likes of reggae’s rhythm twin Sly and Robbie, Ricky Bless and Born Free Music.

Included in the 15-track listings are Not Today, Destiny, Young King and collaboration with veteran producer/artiste Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry called Forgiveness.

“These are all standout tracks, and I am honoured to work with Mr Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. This will show the maturity of me as an artiste. I see myself as a young king who the youths like look up to. We can’t sing the same songs, someone has to be different. There has to be a balance and there has to be conscious, motivating music,” he said.

Young King will be the entertainer’s fourth studio album with his last being Different Dimension in 2013.

“For me, putting out singles is just showing out my creativity. An album is more deep and authentic and will showcase an artiste’s soul. Also if the target market is Europe, then an album is very important. Therefore, the aim, for me, is to release an album every other year,” he said.
