KINGSTON, Jamaica – Opposition Leader Andrew Holness on Sunday commended the Jamaican team in Beijing, China, for the 2015 IAAF World Championships.

Holness said the Jamaicans in China have brought immeasurable joy through their excellent performances and that, like all other Jamaicans at home and abroad, he was extremely privileged and thrilled to watch as the “exceptional products of Jamaica land we love executed bravely and exceptionally on the world stage”.

In a news release Sunday, the Opposition leader said, like many times before, “the Jamaican athletes have made us immensely proud and through their sportsmanship, strength and resilience have united Jamaica”.

The last several days, Holness said, have proven once again, that Jamaica is a country of fine men and women and that the positive exposure that the athletes have brought to Jamaica is invaluable.

“We are an amazing country and every time the Jamaican National Anthem was played inside the Bird’s Nest all the way in Beijing, China, every Jamaican is reminded of their greatness, we take our hats off to our athletes, and salute you for your hard, graceful and distinguished work,” Holness said.
