Tropical Storm Fred to weaken over next 48 hours — Met Service
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says at 4:00 pm the centre of Tropical Storm Fred was located near Latitude 18.8 degrees north and Longitude 28.1 degrees west.
The Met Service said Tropical Storm Fred is moving toward the west-northwest near 19 km/h. This general motion is expected to continue over the next couple of days. Some weakening is expected during the next 48 hours, and Fred is forecast to become a tropical depression by late Wednesday.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast over the next couple of days.
The Met Service said Fred is not a threat to Jamaica.
