Strong set from Etana
REGGAE singer Etana gave a strong performance at the We Are Reggae series held at Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday.
She delivered a blistering two-hour set which included two encores and two standing ovations from the capacity-filled venue.
From her opening selection Free, she had all in attendance dancing and singing. Her accompanying band and vocals blended wonderfully. Wrong Address, I’m Not Afraid, her cover of Marcia Griffiths’ Stepping Out A Babylon and many other hits kept the We Are Reggae audience basking in her warm musical glow. Her set was peppered with jokes, stories and great audience participation.
“The We Are Reggae concert number five delivered as promised. Etana, our very first female headliner was remarkable. She was gracious and delivered a mesmerising performance,” said the show’s co-promoter Peter Lloyd.
Earlier openers Verso, Trelawny-born Philadelphia hip hop artiste, and MoBay’s Lij Tafari both gave strong sets.
Romain Virgo is slated to be headliner for the September 26 staging of the monthly We Are Reggae series.
