Alleged gun thief kept behind bars by similar case
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man who reportedly broke into a house and stole a firearm was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Magistrate Grace Henry-McKenzie told his attorney that she was not minded to consider bail after it was revealed that Gersham Carr is before the High Court on a similar matter.
Carr reportedly broke into the complainant’s house in St Andrew and stole the weapon.
He was quickly apprehended by lawmen patrolling the area.
The firearm was reportedly found in Carr’s possession.
“Offica, a no my gun a tief mi tief it,” Carr reportedly told the police when cautioned.
He was charged with house breaking, larceny and receiving stolen property.
Carr, however, pleaded not guilty in court.
He’s to next return to court on October 12.
