Creary on $4-m bail
Businessman and former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor Don Creary was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $2 million each on two separate rape charges when he reappeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The 48-year-old accused was offered bail by Magistrate Simone Wolf-Reece following a bail application by attorney Tom Tavares-Finson.
Bail was offered on condition that Creary surrender his travel documents and report to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) once per week.
Creary will return to court on October 16.
Creary is being accused of the rape of a 15-year-old girl in 2013 and the rape of a 19-year-old woman at an apartment in Meadowbrook, St Andrew in June this year.
In the first matter he was charged along with Shaneke Williams, 23, who is facing charges of aiding and abetting and sexual touching.
Allegations are that the two took the girl to a dwelling, where she was forced to have sex with Creary. However, the location of the alleged act is still unclear, as police investigators have given conflicting locations that it happened in St Mary, as well as in Havendale, St Andrew.
The second charge, however, comes almost a week after Creary was charged with the alleged rape of the minor.
In the meantime, Williams’s bail was yesterday extended for her to return to court on October 16.
