PNP kicks-off 3-day conference today
THE ruling People’s National Party (PNP) opens its annual conference at the National Arena in Kingston this morning.
It is the first of two-days of private sessions marking its 77th conference, and about 500 delegates are expected to discuss a number of reports from various organs and officers.
The private sessions end tomorrow, which is dedicated to examining and debating the work of the party during 2014/15, and its organisation in preparation for upcoming elections. This session is expected to attract more than 3,000 delegates.
The three-day event, projected to cost some $25 million, ends Sunday with the public session which will, no doubt, feature speeches from the Prime Minister and leader of the PNP, Portia Simpson Miller and former Prime Minister PJ Patterson.
PNP chairman Robert Pickersgill says that the prime minister will focus on the achievements and progress of the Government, in reforming the Jamaican economy and setting the stage for greater economic development.
