Bunting concerned about collapse in values
SECURITY Minister Peter Bunting has urged Jamaicans to confront the collapse in values, morals and ethics, which has negatively affected young people and has resulted in a breakdown of families and communities.
Addressing a Western Jamaica Seventh-day Adventist Leadership Conference last Sunday in Mount Salem, St James, Bunting said that as leaders of the church and the wider community, “we have to become activists and advocates for a better Jamaica”.
“The emancipation message of the gospel is not just a private one. The emancipation message dictates that the church has to go out into the communities and provide the leadership and inspiration that will make a difference for a better Jamaica,” the minister said.
Bunting said while it is easy to associate leadership with traditional power bases, it is not uncommon to find real unsung heroes in the society doing their part in providing yeoman service for the betterment of the country.
