JAMES Thomas said he has been writing since 1984, but his most recent book is different from the rest.

It is a fictional piece that has sparked interest because it has characters similar to real life ones — the President of the United States Barack Obama and his family.

Thomas said that Obama’s Drama will be a series, with the now published book The Obamas Saga Book 1, the first in it. The book is now only available electronically on Amazon.com.

“America is a gossiping country and they love a gossip. I’ve never seen a book like this about a US President,” Thomas said when asked his reason for choosing real life characters, particularly the influential US family.

Thomas, who is originally from Trelawny, but now lives in St Mary, explained that the story’s plot is centred on the kidnapping of the US first lady and children while on a goodwill trip to Africa.

“They went to Nigeria and had a great welcome, and then to Tanzania. They then went to Kenya, and while there, something awful happened.

“The first family decided to go to the game park in Kenya to enjoy the wild life, the flora and the fauna,” he said, adding that it was then that the President’s wife and children were kidnapped.

Thomas said that his book offers a good read. He said that the setting is based on places that the first family would likely visit.

A commentary on Amazon.com states: “Never in the history of the literary world has a novel been written about a sitting or retired US President’s wife and children pleading for help, leaving the President on wobbly legs like a bruised and battered boxer.”

The book is described as

“a fascinating, gripping, thrilling story that will have readers engrossed from beginning to the end”.

Apart from continuing the series on the US first family, Thomas said that he is now working on two other books, The Power of the Penis and The Mayor and His Beautiful Wife.
