St Catherine derby to highlight today’s JCA 50-over competition
THE enticing Zone B clash between parish rivals St Catherine CC and St Catherine CA is expected to be the highlight of today’s third round of matches in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50-over competition.
Both teams will be putting their unbeaten records on the line.
St Catherine CC, the defending champions, have won their opening two games this season and their captain Danza Hyatt should be hoping that the multitude of local stars in the squad will continue to lead from the front.
In their previous outing St Catherine CC were powered by West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell and former Jamaica captain Tamar Lambert.
St Catherine CA have been just as impressive, racking up back-to-back victories to begin the campaign. They boast West Indies batsman Nkrumah Bonner and left-arm finger spinner Coi Thompson, the national trials invitee.
In other Zone B encounters, Manchester CA host GC Foster at Manchester High School, while Kingston & St Andrew CA welcome Clarendon CA to the Maxfield Park field.
Westmoreland CA take on visitors Trelawny CA in a Zone A contest at the Paradise facility. Also in Zone A, Hanover CA entertain St Elizabeth CA at the Elgin Town Community Centre, while St James CA, the zone’s other team, are set to be inactive.
In Zone C, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) welcome St Mary CA at Up Park Camp, while Portland CA host St Ann CA at Folly Oval, and University of the West Indies (UWI) match wits with Police Sports Club at Mona Bowl.
In Zone D, Melbourne CC welcome Lucas CC to Melbourne Oval, while Kensington CC and Boys’ Town CC lock horns at Kensington Park, and St Thomas CA entertain Kingston CC at Good Year Oval.
