BELL2HEAD

Two TEEN supporters of the political parties go at it

With election season in full tow, teenAGE has decided to engage teen supporters of parties and have them discuss the political issues and news for the week.

The views expressed here are not the views held by teenAGE or the Jamaica Observer.

John Luke Powell speaks:

When I was given this opportunity (basically begged) to spread the gospel of Bustamante’s party I thought ‘Thank God!’. Finally the media recognises our divine right to publicity!

Then they told me that I would be sharing the print with a Comrade and I replied with one of those sideway eyes emojis. Suffice to say I disapproved.

But, I digress. I am here to tell you why all Jamaicans must go out and vote for my party: the green party. Green gives life. Green is the colour on our flag; green is the colour of trees that give oxygen. Have you ever seen an orange tree? NO!

The green party is a party of life and innovation. Our leader is the epitome of this. Denied residence in Vale Royal by the electorate, our strong and secure head man went out and built his very own. This is the sort of innovation, perseverance and wherewithal we need in government!

Now, some Comrades like to talk about what they call in-fighting in the party of the people. But all this is, is an overspill of LIFE and innovation. It is the sort of life that spreads through the organs and limbs, and may even cause limbs like that of Mr Calm and Cool to raise themselves in eagerness to be seen. Rest assured that the life will continue to overflow in government and we will challenge, and fight and vote and hold secret meetings about how to help the Jamaican people! All the battles we have within the party are simply over-eagerness to help the Jamaican people from poverty to prosperity.

The orange leader loves the poor. We love the rich.

I noticed the Comrades’ cowardly attempt to use our phrase, which everybody could EASILY associate with us, to bring some life to their crumbling party. I completely agree with our mature and STRONG response of buying portiasimpsonmiller.com in response. This is what the Jamaican people can expect from us in government. No other State will ever get the better of us with any pettiness. We WILL out-petty them. Do you think that Kamla could have really said that Trinidad is not an ATM under our government? We would have taken the handle ‘OppositionLeaderKamla’ on Twitter immediately!

But to end, I would like to suggest some other domain names we could buy to completely torpedo the orange campaign:

1. workingworkingworking.com, 2. silencingthearticulateminority.com, and 3. keepitjiggywithpicky.com

Polly Nancy Palmer responds:

Mr John Luke Powell thinks the green party is the party of life. Ha. Look how long our ministers and members live? Mr Flexi, Picky, Mama, and Mr Run Wid It etc will be in government for 18 more years. President for life looks younger than green leader.

Maybe John Luke forgets that this is orange country… and even the diaspora is too, because your party went up there to try and hold a meeting and flopped.

Jamaica can take it to the bank that after leader Mama is finished with South West St Andrew, she will make Jamaica crisp like biscuit. Only after though. She is only one (amazing) woman.

However, they told me that I should focus on why I support the right party this week. The answer is really simple. But I will add ‘brawta’ on it. The simple answer: Michael Manley. What a great man. And the party still follows his precepts to the ‘t’. As our bright young MP would say: ‘wi ah socialist’.

That’s why we believe that the private sector should bear the burden of growth. That’s why we believe reforms should be made so that workers place their pension contributions in the Consolidated Fund and share more of the burden of pensions. Everyone knows these policies are consistent with Joshua’s values. The right to be a good or bad corporate citizen must be protected.

My party is also more interested in the youth. The green arms like to talk about its young MPs. But whose conference do prominent young social media gurus turn up at, in the rightly coloured shirt? Who had all of social media watching as we celebrated 77 years? Who has a shiny new app? If that doesn’t show youth focus I don’t know what does. Now, I know some might say the youthful members are coming under pressure in the party, or that some students were denied Student Loans because of the discipline they chose, or that we recycled old civil servants when the opportunity came to repatronise boards. But, we all know that most of this young articulate minority and leggo beasts are only interested in apps, and social media. We are simply catering for them.

For every green complaint against our performance in government, there is an explanation. Water restrictions? Is not our esteemed Chairman for life drink the water… he cannot control the weather. Chik V? I am sure that Mr Healthy & Competent does not breed aedes aegypti mosquitoes. I can go on and on. All these criticisms are baseless.

Our well-travelled Cabinet is clearly the right party to keep improving Jamaica’s reputation.

Two world leaders in one year. #ThatIsAll
