Tracking the two-year-olds
THE Keeling Memorial Cup run over five and a half furlongs is the first opportunity the juveniles for this year will be participating in a designated non-winners of three – two-year-old event.
Six horses have heeded the call including the undefeated colt Dreamliner, the only horse of the six to win two races to date.
The Complete Racing Guide gives its analysis of the runners in the Keeling.
1. Baby P (ch, f Market Rally – Princess Terri) – Baby P has raced twice without really moving any eyebrows. Finished six and a half lengths behind Nuclear Affair and it is difficult to see her reversing that placing.
2. Fedora (ch, f Nuclear Wayne – Patty Girl) – Fedora promised much after her debut win on March 15 but was firmly put in her place by the colt Dreamliner. She burnt herself out on the headlines and had nothing left in the straight. An improved if not a winning effort is expected tomorrow, especially running with Lasix for the first time.
3. Vision (gr, c He’stherealthing – Money Spinner) – Vision has had two runs to date finishing second and third, both long distances, behind stable companion Dreamliner. Another placing effort is on the cards.
4. Nuclear Affair (ch, f Nuclear Affair – Commandra Affair) – Nuclear Affair was impressive in victory on her only start to date. Should improve on that five-and-a-half-furlong effort and might be the main threat to the sure odds on favourite, Dreamliner.
5. Dreamliner (b, c Porto Santo – Golden Olympico) – Dreamliner is a perfect two from two, both in impressive fashion winning by a combined 18 lengths. Did not show any improvement in time winning first over five furlongs in 1:01.3 minutes and recording the same time in his next victory. That, however, should be sufficient to see him through to his third win along with the anticipated development at this time.
6. Glyder (b, f Storm Craft – Face Tracker) – Glyder showed marked improvement when winning on last. Seems to be coming together nicely. There is a change from his regular rider Ameth Robles who is on assignment in Trinidad to Chalrick Budhai. Glyder is not to left out of consideration.
