Man fatally shot in Mud Town
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A man was shot dead by the police in Mud Town, St Andrew on Friday.
Dead is Kevin Sylvester of a Kingston 6 address.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the incident, but could not provide details.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE, however, are that about 7:00 am, lawmen were on patrol in the area when a premises occupied by Sylvester was searched. It is alleged that during the search, an illegal firearm was found. It is further alleged that a struggle ensued between the deceased and a lawman and he was shot.
He was reportedly taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
OBSERVER ONLINE has since learnt that the Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the incident.
