Richards: I’m still in the race
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Councillor for the Bensonton Division, Lydia Richards, today rubbished media reports that she has withdrawn her application to become the People’s National Party’s candidate in St Ann South Eastern.
Richards is challenging two-term Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna for the right to represent the party in the next general election, which is constitutionally due by December 2016.
“Those reports are not true. What I said is that I had several issues with the list which I wanted to be addressed, but I am still in the race,” she told OBSERVER ONLINE a short while ago.
The run-off, which was scheduled for today, was pushed back to tomorrow. Voting is slated to start at 10:00 am and is expected to end at 4:00 pm at Ferncourt High School in the parish.
