Weekly Round-up: Prickly Pole saga…British PM to visit…Deadly cricket pitch
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The stewardship of two-term Member of Parliament for St Ann South Eastern Lisa Hanna again came under the microscope this week, following a protest over the non-paving of the grounds at Prickly Pole Primary School in Claremont, St Ann.
It is alleged that documents being circulated on Hanna’s behalf report that the school’s grounds were paved.
Parents and representatives from the school staged a protest as a result, demanding answers.
The incident, which was deemed to be politically motivated, took place on September 18. An 11-year-old female student, who boarded a bus that was bound for the demonstration site, fell ill and was reportedly taken off the bus, but later died.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to visit the island next week and will address a joint meeting of both houses of the Jamaican Parliament.
