Opposition MPs walk out of Parliament
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Opposition members of Parliament walked out of the House of Representatives a short while ago after the Government refused to give a commitment not to proceed with the proposed new prison deal with the UK Government.
Minister of National Security Peter Bunting refused a request from Leader of Opposition, Andrew Holness, to give the House a commitment not to go through with the deal.
Bunting responded that the Opposition leader seemed to be “disillusioned by his brief term” as prime minister and rejected the request.
The Opposition then rose and walked out of the House.
The House was adjourned shortly after, leaving three bills undebated and several questions unanswered.
