PNP starts parish tours in Westmoreland
KINGSTON, Jamaica — With a general election looming, the governing People’s National Party (PNP) is expected to begin its multi-parish meetings this Sunday in Petersfield, Westmoreland.
Prime Minister and PNP President Portia Simpson Miller is expected to headline a roster of speakers when she addresses party faithful and uncommitted voters.
Several polls conducted recently have indicated that both the PNP and the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) are locked in a dead heat, with both leaders losing a significant amount of favourability with the electorate.
The leadership of the PNP has, however, come out in full support of Simpson Miller, insisting that for many years, Jamaicans have affirmed the need for bold and decisive leadership and that her administration reflects that.
The PNP said the meeting was originally planned for Sav-la-Mar but the party, having undertaken further analysis, has decided to change the location.
